Mending the Broken by Todd Rutherford | Writing & Speaking ...

Truly, there are those who have the gift of helping others in need. They possess natural traits of servitude, provision and more often than not? an angel-like spirit. Heaven holds a special place for those who have answered such a call. To give unselfishly and to sacrifice time and energy, as well as devoting their lives to mending those who are ?broken? are all qualities that are highly esteemed.

Mother Theresa, for example, ministered to the poor and sick, the needy and the lost for over 45 years. Selflessness, humility, and being unashamed were among her greatest qualities. Winning the Nobel Peace Prize, albeit prestigious, was the least valued of her accomplishments. Mother Teresa was concerned about others and devoted entirely to making a difference in other peoples? lives.

There may be times in our own lives when we long for someone to rescue us from self-destructing. Enter Beth Thomas: an angel in the midst of a nightmare. When the will to live vanished for Michael O?Mara, a saint appeared before his hauntingly blue eyes. Nursing him back to health after her brother rescues him on a roadside, in Rhonda Tibbs? Angel?s Blues; Michael finds that there are undeniably good people out there who still care about others. Without the care and selflessness of Beth and her brother, Michael may not have made it another step, much less to the road to success.

Showing sympathy toward the less fortunate and giving of ones? self is rewarding. Taking the time to see what is truly important, and making a difference in someone?s life can also bring healing in our own lives. In the words of Mother Teresa: ?Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.? To be sure, Angel?s Blues captures the spirit and power of people, who like Mother Teresa, give and care unconditionally to those who need it the most.
