The Director of Web, Instructional Technology and Online learning is a multi-faceted position dedicated to managing technological and e-learning needs within Petrocelli College. The Director will work with the Dean of Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies and report to the Executive Associate Dean/Director of School of Administrative Science.
This position's function is to provide direct pedagogical expertise in online course development and augmentation; and to assist the Dean and the Executive Associate Dean/Director of School of Administrative Science in providing long-term and day-to-day management and administration for the Online Degree programs within the School of Administrative Science & Petrocelli College.
Responsibilities include: managing and providing strategic direction for the portion of the University's website and online delivery falling under Petrocelli College; facilitating communication between web content managers and authors located in various departments on both campuses and the University's Director of Web Operations; monitoring course delivery for effectiveness; and resolving issues relative to website and course processes. In addition, the incumbent monitors contracts with outside agencies and providers, such as the National Guard contract.
The Director also works closely with Petrocelli College faculty, the Center for Teaching and Learning with Technology, the Office of International Admissions, and various national and international partners including: House Magazine (United Kingdom) and Intercollege (Cyprus).
1. Master's degree in Information Systems/Information Technology/Education, plus 3 years experience in duties; OR Bachelor's degree in Information Systems/Information Technology/Education plus 5 years of progressive relevant work experience. The experience may be in job duties or as Webmaster & site project leader/project manager.
2. Knowledge HTML, DHTML, web content management systems, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Macromedia's Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash, and Microsoft's FrontPage; instructional design models and methods and Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).
3. Experience with all aspects of the web development life cycle including marketing requirements, business requirements, architecture, design, implementation, quality assurance, documentation and deployment.
4. Strong project management ability.
5. Excellent interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
6. Valid driver's license and accessibility to a car for travel between campuses. Valid passport will be required for international travel.
7. Willing to work nonstandard hours, as necessary, including evenings and weekends.
8. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
