Community Journalism Conference: Enabling and Empowering Communities

This conference will explore the latest thinking, research and hands on experience in the rapidly developing field of hyperlocal and community journalism.

Who should attend?
The conference will be of interest to practitioners, decision makers, opinion formers, academics, and enablers, including:

- Those working in the media who have an interest in shaping the future of community and local journalism
- Academics, policy makers, community workers and activists
- Community and local journalists leading or planning enterprises
- Funding bodies and commercial social media companies
- The conference will focus on sharing the latest hyperlocal journalism research; identifying key enablers and factors? affecting success or failure; as well as initiating a network of hyperlocal and community journalists is Wales.

It will also raise the profile of community and local journalism and will examine the potential for partnerships and policy support to achieve outcomes for communities.

Conference speakers and session presenters will impart essential practical knowledge covering digital tools, law and ethics

- Prof Richard Sambrook, (@Sambrook) Director of Cardiff University?s Centre for Journalism
- Prof Ian Hargreaves, Professor of Digital Economy at Cardiff University
- Practitioners including Hannah Waldram - Guardian.co.uk, Dylan Iorwerth - Golwg Cyf., Facebook, Wrexham.com, Port Talbot Magnet, National Union of Journalists
