Big Names In American Society: Do They Have Any Value?

Big Names Dominate Our Society

It?s a matter of fact of our American society that big names dominate, no matter from what walk of life or industry that name comes from.? Whether we like them or not, top names rule us.? Since I am of the I background, our big names are pretty much Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, and yes, Google.? Who can forget the latter?? This is what we use for conducting lightning quick searches on the web, and much more, given all of the apps related to Google which comes out.? And who can forget the nice stock reward you get by owning Google?? It had a great IPO, and people thought it would fizzle in terms of EPS, because after all, what goes up has to come down, right??

Well, I guess you can say 99% of the time.? Much to my surprise (and I am no stock specialist), it?s current stock price has seemed to have hold fairly steady since that ever so famous IPO.? Well, today, to of no surprise, Google makes the blog headline today.? And yes, Biometrics is involved.?

The goop:? ?Secure Planet, a leading provider of identity and protection products for soldiers and civilians, releases their Secure BioID?-Lite Application (?App?) on Google Play, the Android marketplace. The free Secure BioID-Lite Trial app enables users to perform biometric identification searches via their Android device . . . users operate the app by creating enrollment records by capturing biographical information, barcodes, face images, iris images and/or fingerprints. Fingerprint collection will require an external fingerprint scanner and an external iris scanner is recommended for iris support. After capturing enrollments, subsequent biometric searches will identify matches along with all associated biographical information.?? (SOURCE:? http://www.findbiometrics.com/industry-news/i/9781/).

My Take

I do have to admit, this is a rather unique solution.? Most of the stuff I have written about with regards to Biometrics and anything and everything Smartphone related had to with adding an extra layer of security of authentication to access the device. This is probably the first time I have written about actually conducting Biometric searches remotely away from the device.? No need to rehash it all, you can see a fairly succinct description of it above in the quote.? But even as I read the content again, to me, it is just spoken in general terms with regards to the depth and magnitude of this application.?

Yea, it can conduct Biometric searches, but to what level of detail is that search?? Is it just general searches, or can specific people be identified?? My first thoughts here are that of privacy rights issues.? If individual citizens can do this now with a simple download, civil liberty unions and associations will have a field day with this one, for sure.? Hmm, well maybe there is more to it, as if you are going to use fingerprint or iris recognition, you actually have to purchase the actual scanning device separatley.? True, the costs of these scanning devices have come down, but I don?t think buying such a device is something that the average American citizen is not going to do.?

If more people are to use this app, the scanning device should be associated right onto the Android device itself. OK, for the positive points. ?It seems like that this app is pretty much designed for the military and the law enforcement agencies across all levels, and I think that is great.? Just imagine the cop who has to make split second decisions into the suspect he or she has just arrested . . . are they who are really looking for??

With this app, that should hopefully make those split second decisions a lot easier, especially in those remote and desolate areas where other resources are not available just immediately.? It can even be used to help verify and/or identify victims in the face of natural disasters. But the best aspect about this app . . . it is totally free to use.
